Equipped with information and training, they concentrate on bringing aboutsignificant behavioral changes in the community’s perception of the vaccine programme and overcome vaccine hesitancy. From their vantage point as ‘village insiders’, they start facilitating interactions between community members and experts. Toll-free free helplines are used to trigger conversations with medical officers and health workers so that people can hear the facts straight from a reliable source. They also advocate for COVID-19 vaccination centres at the village level so that people don’t have to travel far, and support communities in registering for the vaccines.
