We’ve set out on a mission to change this, and we want you to join us.
We cannot be okay with young girls in rural India resorting to unhygienic traditional menstrual practices such as torn cloths, cow dung, dirty rags, newspapers, sand or even leaves as soaking medium.
Their health relies on us, and we can do something about it.
Most problems related to menstrual hygiene are preventable, but are not due to low awareness and poor menstrual hygiene management.
Improper menstrual hygiene can lead to anaemia, prolonged or short periods, infections of reproductive tracts, dermatitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), genital tract infections, bacterial vaginosis, cervical cancer as well as psychological problems such as anxiety, embarrassment and shame.
girls drop out of school annually due to lack of proper menstrual hygiene management facilities
cases of cervical cancer deaths are reported every year due to poor menstrual hygiene
menstruating adolescents experience menstrual dysfunctions, affecting their normal daily chores
India has hundreds and thousands of young girls who are in need of this ESSENTIAL product. We are reaching girls in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha, home to many vulnerable, tribal and marginalized communities who cannot afford menstruation products.
We are procuring high quality sanitary napkins and ensuring door-to-door delivery. A steady supply of sanitary products will not only ensure the health and well-being of these young girls, but will also allow them to experience menstruation in a dignified manner.
Additionally, the menstrual management kit will provide girls with information on proper hygiene, care needed during menstruation, awareness on various infections and health implications, and destigmatizing menstruation.

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) stands for credibility and transparency in all our implementation projects. With the #MakeAHappyPeriod campaign, we will be reaching out to young girls who are associated with our Youth Projects across Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Odisha. The funds raised through this online donation campaign will be utilized towards providing these girls with high quality menstrual management products delivered to their doorstep, with the support of community level government officials in the distribution process and monitoring the supply.
We are also using this opportunity to sensitize adolescent girls on their rights and entitlements. Discussing menstrual hygiene and other issues that impact adolescent health such as: early marriage, nutrition, gender issues, knowledge of contraceptive choices, understanding of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) including HIV. We are addressing taboos and negative socio-cultural norms associated with menstrual hygiene practices through community- level environment building.
All our donors will receive updates on our projects through newsletters as well as our social media platforms. We also release our Annual Reports which details the reach and impact of our work, this can be accessed on our website www.c3india.org
