Bridging the Digital Divide: Better Life Choices for Young Girls’- Supported by Oracle

School textbooks in India feature the bicycle as a poor man’s transport. However, when it is aligned with young girls from disadvantaged communities; it loses its identity as a mere means of transport and becomes a tool for transformation. The power of a tool depends on its usage and appropriation. We, at Center for Catalyzing Change (C3), believe that like the humble bicycle, digital literacy, if located and imparted within the larger socio-economic context, can bring substantive change in the lives of young girls.

In Jharkhand,  young girls experience several layers of marginalization linked to their multiple identities based on gender, class, caste, education, culture, tribal etc. Our program ‘Bridging the Digital Divide: Better Life Choices for Young Girls’ supported by Oracle, is an affirmative action to address the marginalization of girls. Through Digital learning we envisage to change the lives 15,000 young girls from Gumla district in Jharkhand.

The digital learning platform provided by C3 and Oracle is aimed to disrupt gender asymmetries by enabling girls to access information, public services, entitlements, employment opportunities, scholarships, schemes, etc. through digital platforms.
