C3’s initiative published as a chapter in the book – Global Perspectives on Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Across the Lifecourse
We are happy to inform you our initiative on citizen-generated data produced directly by people to monitor, demand and drive change for improvement of quality of services has been printed as a chapter – Empowering Women in India to Influence Maternal Healthcare Quality Through Mobile Phones and Crowdsourcing by Dr. Aparajita Gogoi, Dr. Manju Katoch and Dr. Priya Agrawal in the book – Global Perspectives on Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Across the Lifecourse. The book is a collection of work addressing a variety of topics in sexual and reproductive health, and its global focus and diversity of perspectives sets it apart.
This chapter discusses how rural women can use a mobile Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform to provide feedback on the quality of care received at facilities, and to assess if IVR can raise rural women’s knowledge and awareness of quality of care. This was developed by the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, India (WRAI), led by its secretariat organization, Centre for Catalyzing Change (formerly CEDPA India), Merck for Mothers, and mobile technology firm Gram Vaani, and implemented with the support of the government of Jharkhand.
You can use the book (or selected chapters, as these can be purchased individually in digital format) for classes and research purposes.
